Basic Pistol Shooting Course

During the instructor-led-training portion of the course, an NRA Certified Instructor will validate comprehension and application of gun safety rules; range protocol; proper handling; loading and unloading procedures; application of pistol shooting fundamentals; stable shooting positions; live fire; and a final shooting qualification.
More Details: Some of the topics in the course include: gun safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, selecting and storing a pistol, the fundamentals of shooting, and pistol inspection and maintenance.
Short Description: The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is a two-part course consisting of an e-learning portion (completed online in your own time frame) and a hands-on practical portion conducted at a range under the guidance and supervision of an NRA-Certified Instructor. The course is intended for all adults regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA-affiliation.
Name: National Rifle Association (NRA) Basics of Pistol Shooting-Phase 2
This course teaches the novice to beginner shooter the basic fundamentals about pistols. If you have a License To Carry(LTC)/ Concealed Handgun License (CHL) and would like to get to know your weapon then this is the course for you! If you do not have LTC/CHL and is contemplating obtaining such license, but is unfamiliar about pistols then this is the course for you!
You will need to bring a pistol or revolver (a minimum of a 22 caliber). If you do not have a handgun, GTAS will provide handguns and ammo FREE OF CHARGE at regular price. If you would like to use your own handgun, D-Range will have ammunition for sale.
******If you use your own handgun, you will need at least 200 rounds of ammunition for the firearm that you will be shooting.*******
It is highly recommended that you have your own weapon due to the un-familiarization of a different or used handgun.

Things to bring and wear at the class room and gun range:
An original Texas Driver’s License or Texas Identification Card;
Wear comfortable pants or tactical pants is okay;
Wear a long sleeve button shirt on the range;
Comfortable LACED SHOES OR BOOTS>ONLY<.
Bring eye, and ear protection (You will pay for your gun range fee at D-Gun Range. Eye and ear protection is included in their fee)
Bring water to drink; and
Bring a positive attitude.

THERE WILL BE ABSOLUTELY NO FIREARMS IN THE CLASSROOM. FIREARMS WILL BE SECURED IN YOUR VEHICLE UNTIL AT THE FIREARM RANGE!!!!

The instructor will dismiss any student that is:
1) Late to class, i.e. breaks.
2) Causes a disturbance in class
3) Not properly dressed
4) Unable to pass the written or firearms test
5) Falsify information
6) Disrespectful to instructor(s) and classmates
7) Using vulgar language
8) Unable to comprehend or follow directions for safety reasons
9) Violate gun safety rules. (See gun safety rules:

These rules will be mandatory and shall be enforced to follow to ensure everyone have a safe and enjoyable course.
